Mon nouveau Comics vient de sortir !

Depuis lundi 23 novembre paraissent en ligne sur BBC.CO.UK les épisodes du comics sur la Somalie que j'ai dessiné l'année dernière pour le compte de PositiveNegatives de Londres et Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) avec Benjamin Dixie, Ebba Tellander, Cindy Horst et Poppy Ogier.

Je vous montrerai au fil des jours le making of de cette collaboration.

Since Monday 23 November appear online on BBC.CO.UK the episodes of the comic book on Somalia that I drew last year for PositiveNegatives of London and Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) with Benjamin Dixie, Ebba Tellander , Cindy Horst and Poppy Ogier.

Au début des années 80, la population du Somaliland souffrait à la fois du régime du pays et des effets de la guerre. ⠀
Des groupes de jeunes professionnels, plus tard connus sous le nom de «groupe Uffo», ont tenté de fournir des fonds, une assistance volontaire et un soutien financier aux hôpitaux dont le pays avait grand besoin. Ils ont été arrêtés et accusés d'activités antigouvernementales.
Après avoir obtenu leur libération et après l’auto-proclamation du Somaliland en 1991, nombre de ces professionnels ont fondé la première organisation humanitaire du pays. ⠀
Avec des chercheurs du Peace Research Institute d'Oslo, PositiveNegatives s'est rendu à Hargeisa en 2018 pour mener des entretiens approfondis avec des membres du groupe Uffo. Après avoir développé un scénario à partir de ces conversations enregistrées, l'artiste Pat Masioni a ensuite illustré une bande dessinée basée sur leurs vies et leurs expériences. ⠀

During the early 1980s the people of Somaliland were suffering from both the country’s regime and the effects of war. Groups of young professionals, later known as the ‘Uffo group’ attempted to provide funding, voluntary assistance and financial support to much needed hospitals in the country. They were arrested and accused of anti-government activities.⠀
After securing their release, and following the self-proclamation of Somaliland in 1991, many of these professionals founded the country’s first humanitarian organisation. ⠀
With researchers from the Peace Research Institute in Oslo, PositiveNegatives travelled to Hargeisa in 2018 to conduct in-depth interviews with members of the Uffo group. After developing a script from these recorded conversations, artist Pat Masioni then illustrated a comic based on their lives and experiences. ⠀
